Q?

Common Sense, But Still Needs to be Stated …

A.

A wrap is only as good as what it can stick to. A wrap is in no way, going to make your car brand new, it will only give it the fresh new color change look, as it is intended to do. If your car has flaking clear coat, has been re-painted or re-cleared, has rock chips or scuffs in the paint, is in anyway, damaged on the exterior, it could affect the adhere process of the wrap materials and or affect how long they will last.

There are alot of factors that play into a wrap project. In some cases, if a panel gets a small piece of debris under the wrap, that area will need to be re-done. This is why we cannot give an exact time of completion, in the automotive industry, situations can occur to slow the process, to ensure it is done properly.

If the vehicle never gets washed, sits in the sun with dirt or debris on the vehicle, it will damage the wrap film. If the car sits outside in the sun and weather factors, even dew sitting, resting on the car and drying up from the sun, will break down the materials. Moisture in the air has a lot of chemicals trapped within them and this, if not washed off your car, even with paint, will damage the exterior.

If you opt not to have any damaged areas on your vehicle fixed prior to the wrap, you will then void the warranty on those specific areas, as we will not have any power over how they hold up. We will show you an example of what it will look like through the wrap, if you do not opt to repair those areas, so you are aware.

Q?

What is a Vehicle Wrap??

A.

A wrap is a vinyl product, produced to be a solid color, with many shades and finishes to choose from, that can be applied to your vehicle and a number of different objects. The vinyl product can range in thickness from 3-4mm for color change wraps. The material has an adhesive that compliments each other to be heat and pressure activated to conform and contour to your vehicle.

Q?

What Are The Advantages of Wrapping My Vehicle?

A.

Wraps can almost instantly give your vehicle a new and fresh look without the need for an expensive paint job. In the same token, a wrap can instantly provide your vehicle with: paint protection for any OEM paint job, protection from UV and acid rain fading or weathering, bug splatter and bird dropping build up, gasoline spillage etc. Although it is not a bubble around your vehicle, it is the next best thing you can preserve your vehicle's state it's in when brought to us.

Q?

How Much Does a Wrap Cost?

A.

Cost is determined by several factors: How much of the vehicle is being wrapped, the film you select, the complexity of the project, style line and installation. Costs range from a few hundred dollars for custom stripes and accents, to a few thousand dollars for a complete full wrap (this is lower end, basic pricing). Each project is unique and different. ACW is not the cheapest wrap shop you will find, only because we simply believe in the words, “you get what you pay for’.

Q?

How Does a Complete Wrap Compare to New Paint Job?

A.

Wrap film is not permanent, making it fast and easy to change your style up quickly and easily, without damage to the current OEM factory paint. In many cases, the film can be the less expensive option. Not only is there a possibility of a significant price difference, but the timing of job completion is quicker, which mean less downtime, the maintenance of a wrap is very little, and you are given a warranty on the product and the install. Another great benefit is the replacement. Heaven forbid, but if you were to be in an accident, or something happens to a panel of your vehicle, for example, a door ding or something scratches or chips the wrap, your vehicle is protected in it’s original state under the wrap. Then we simply replace that panel, and there is no need for blending surrounding areas, as you would have to do with paint. As for Racers, a wrap is on average, 11-13 pounds lighter than a paint job (hence why NASCAR uses wraps and decals instead of custom paint jobs)

Q?

How Long Does It Take To Wrap a Vehicle?

A.

Simple Stripes and accents can take a few hours to install, while a full wrap can take 3-5 business days, or longer when doing more than just the exterior, it just depends on the complexity of the vehicle's job, size and detail of the car and wrap project, and install process. Each job is different. Drastic color changes can take longer to ensure covering up the underlying color. The disassembly and reassembly of the vehicle can also change the time frame, this includes any aftermarket parts, depending on how much you have on the vehicle, this can add days to the project. If the car requires body work prep to be done prior to the wrap application, that adds on to the timing. If you opt to not do any bodywork prep when it is needed, this could affect the time as well. If any debris gets under the wrap while installing, that area will need to be re-done, sometimes this is just out of our control. We take all measures to ensure this does not happen, but there is no guarantee.

Q?

How Long Does a Vehicle Wrap Last?

A.

The expected performance life of a new wrap is 5 years. We use 3M 1080 and Avery SW900 for our solid color wraps, which are durable and will uphold their color and luster for up to 7 years if properly maintained. However, we do not recommend this. Over this time period the sun, acid rain or any other factors that come in contact with your car have an effect on your wraps' life expectancy. While you do not need to wax or use specialty products to clean and maintain the wrap, we do offer some vinyl specific products to help the life of your wrap. We do not recommend wax products for the Matte, Brushed, or Carbon Fiber materials, it will alter their appearance. We offer a 3-5 year warranty* on product and install ACW provides.
